DANIELA DOHNERT

I am a Venezuelan born artist, currently living and working in South Florida. I discovered glass during my training as a visual artist in The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I have since been fascinated with glass and have used it both as a main medium (fused glass) and as an element that can be incorporated into paintings and sculptures. The main inspiration for my work is color and texture. How different colors can evoke emotions and how different textures can attract or repel us, My work is a continual exploration of this, that is why I do not follow a specific style but rather a constant of color.

Each of my creations starts with a vision in my minds eye, from there I begin creating. Sometimes the creation process is quick and I am happy with the result in a couple of days, but most often I will begin an artwork, set it aside after one or two firings or after applying the first coats of paint and then come back to it several weeks or months later to continue transforming it.

The inspiration for my work comes mostly from nature and the conversations I have with friends.
